Hi, I’m Stuart Yoder. I’m a software engineer and and live and work in the Austin, Texas area.
When I was in high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one of my teachers featured a question on every test called “lagniappe”, where you could write an answer sharing anything you learned in class. It was a freebee. The word lagniappe is pronounced “lan-yap”. It entered the English language via Spanish Creoles in New Orleans. Lagniappe means “something given as a bonus or extra gift”, like the 13th doughnut in a baker’s dozen.
It feels like almost daily I’m googling to figure out something at work, how to fix something around the house, the best recipe, gardening advice, etc. Sometimes you search and you can find the answer without effort. Sometimes it takes fiddling and research.
lanyap.com is where I’ll on occasion share things I’ve figured out.
